Inc. Enhances Software
to Protect Highway Safety

RegScan, Inc.
has released version 2 of its, HazMat Manager software,
which is being used by law enforcement as a key tool
in their hazardous material transportation enforcement
programs. HazMat Manager is a market leading expert system
dealing with trailer placarding, marking, and segregation
for domestic hazardous material shipments.
An essential
element of the new release is its support of both the
current and the voluntary hazardous material transportation
regulations. These voluntary rules become mandatory
in October of 2002. Tom Balaban, RegScan Executive Vice
President and COO stated, “This new release incorporates
the over 140 pages of regulatory changes released June
21st of this year by the US Department of Transportation.
The fact that HazMat Manager supports these new voluntary
rules almost a year before they become mandatory offers
enforcement a meaningful productivity advantage in the
area of training. Getting enforcement familiar with
new transportation regulations formerly took many hours;
now with HazMat Manager they are integrated, allowing
the user to toggle between the current and optional
regulations after just minutes of training.”
RegScan founder,
President and CEO, Allen E. Ertel (a former member of
Congress) said, “We are committed to enhancing HazMat Manager to make it easier and faster for enforcement
to detect violations of the hazardous material transportation
rules, which place first responders, enforcement, and
the traveling public at risk.” Mr. Ertel continued,
“Nationwide, we have been getting high praise and very
positive reviews from hazardous material experts representing
federal, state, and local jurisdictions since we released
the product. Further, given recent events, the public
will demand more inspections and higher security in
hazardous material shipments, HazMat Manager is a tool
to help achieve that goal.”
HazMat Manager
reduces public risk by telling government workers, drivers,
dockworkers, carriers and shippers whether a load is
or is not legal. The software is easy-to-use and only
takes minutes to learn. In four simple steps, troopers
and shippers can become Hazmat placarding, marking,
and segregation experts.
